March of the Machine: The Aftermath Singles He previously served as the United Nations Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information and as the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs. Shashi Tharoor is a member of the Indian Parliament from the Thiruvananthapuram constituency in Kerala. In this bold and incisive reassessment of colonialism, Tharoor exposes to devastating effect the inglorious reality of Britain’s stained Indian legacy. He goes on to show how Britain’s Industrial Revolution was founded on India’s deindustrialisation, and the destruction of its textile industry. Beyond conquest and deception, the Empire blew rebels from cannon, massacred unarmed protesters, entrenched institutionalised racism, and caused millions to die from starvation.īritish imperialism justified itself as enlightened despotism for the benefit of the governed, but Shashi Tharoor takes on and demolishes this position, demonstrating how every supposed imperial ‘gift’ - from the railways to the rule of law - was designed in Britain’s interests alone. Then how did this photo come to be? My tasks were related but distinct – to determine both when and where the photo was taken. A significant number of well-respected sources, including Musial himself via his biography, stated the future Hall of Famer only wore the number 6 during his 22 years with St. The photo’s sheer existence, which led to the discovery of several others in which Musial was also wearing the number 19, created conflict. His cap was of the bird design used in 1941, rather than the 1942 StL logo cap. In it, “The Man,” then still a very young man, wore a jersey that was clearly not his trademark St. My self-initiated challenge became to try to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt the circumstances surrounding a photo of a very young Stan Musial. Starting over three years ago, what began as a simple question about a curious photo turned into an extensive search. I adored watching these two strong and powerful women try to work out things everyone else takes for granted, like going on a date without gun toting security and the ever present press trying to get the latest scoop or getting called to the Sit room because of terrorist attacks… When you throw in a homophobic bigot a$$ (think trump) for an opponent, things can be kinda crazy. I thoroughly enjoyed this story!! It was well written, fun and flirty, sweet and romantic as well as full of lovely drama. There are so many things that stand in the way and so many decisions to make… Will it be worth the risk? Read this and find out, trust me, its worth the read.
